1,000+ Special Trains for Festive Rush: Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata & More Connected!
Get ready for a smoother festive season! To manage the massive influx of passengers during the upcoming Durga Puja, Diwali, and Chhath celebrations in 2026, Indian Railways has rolled out a massive plan involving over 1,000 special train trips.
Scheduled primarily between October 1 and November 30, 2026, these services are designed to ensure that travelers can reach their destinations without the usual holiday chaos. Some services are even expected to extend into December to accommodate the lingering demand.
North Central Railway Leads the Charge
The North Central Railway (NCR) is taking the lead in this massive operation. According to Dr. Shivam Sharma, the Chief Public Relations Officer (CPRO), a total of 1,053 special train trips, categorized as Trains on Demand (TODs), have been organized to connect major hubs like Delhi, Prayagraj, Kanpur, Kolkata, Mumbai, Bengaluru, and Guwahati.
