110 km/h Speed Trial Success: Raoghat-Tadoki Electrified Line Clears CRS Inspection!
A significant milestone has been reached for the rail network as the Raoghat-Tadoki electrified broad gauge section successfully passed its Commissioner of Railway Safety (CRS) inspection. This achievement marks a major step forward in the completion of the Dalli-Rajhara–Raoghat rail project.
Successful High-Speed Trials
The inspection, conducted by Sumit Singhal, the Commissioner of Railway Safety for the South Eastern Circle, Kolkata, was finalized on Tuesday, September 22, 2026. During the process, a special train underwent high-speed trials, reaching 110 km/h on the approximately 18-kilometer electrified segment.
With this safety clearance secured, the segment is now poised to begin passenger train operations, which will extend rail services beyond the existing Dalli-Rajhara to Tadoki route.
Key Officials Present During Inspection
The speed trials and inspection, which took place between 1:00 PM and 2:00 PM, were attended by several prominent figures from the railway administration, including:
- Mudit Bhatnagar, Chief Administrative Officer (Construction) Headquarters Bilaspur
- Dayanand, Divisional Railway Manager, Raipur
- Representatives from Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL), such as Saroj Kanta Patra (PED East-RVNL), Bhavesh Pandey (CPM RVNL Raipur), and Kanhaiya Goyal (AGM RVNL Raipur).
Strategic Importance of the Dalli-Rajhara–Raoghat Project
The broader Dalli-Rajhara–Raoghat project spans roughly 95 kilometers and is a collaborative effort between the Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) and Indian Railways. The project involves a significant investment of approximately ₹1,800 crore from SAIL and serves two vital purposes:
- Industrial Logistics: The line is a strategic corridor designed to facilitate the transport of iron ore to the Bhilai Steel Plant.
- Regional Growth: The new infrastructure is set to enhance connectivity for remote Bastar areas, linking them to the national rail network and aiding the movement of local commercial goods and agricultural products.
