₹209 Crore Upgrade: High-Tech Signaling Coming to Solapur Division Stations!
Indian Railways is set to transform the safety and efficiency of its network in Maharashtra. A massive investment of ₹209 crore has been officially approved to install advanced electronic interlocking (EI) systems across seven critical stations in the Solapur division.
Modernizing the Solapur Division Infrastructure
The primary goal of this massive project is to phase out outdated mechanical lever and relay-based signaling. By transitioning to a computer-based electronic interlocking system, the railways aim to achieve more reliable control, faster detection of errors, and much smoother maintenance protocols.
Key Stations Receiving the Upgrade
The modernization will specifically target the High Density Network (HDN) 7 route. The following seven stations are slated for this technological overhaul:
- Mohol
- Mundhewadi
- Bale
- Solapur
- Hotgi Junction (including Hotgi A cabin)
- Shahabad
- Wadi Junction
A Multi-Layered Safety Shield
This initiative goes far beyond just changing signals. To ensure the highest levels of passenger and cargo safety, the project integrates several cutting-edge technologies:
- Kavach: The indigenous automatic train protection system.
- Automatic Block Signaling (ABS): To streamline train movement.
- Centralized Traffic Control (CTC): For more efficient management of rail traffic.

- Deployment of Kavach 4.0 in the Lucknow division.
- Traction upgrades in Andhra Pradesh.
- Construction of a four-lane road over bridge in Gujarat.
