338 Trains Cancelled! Massive Rail Disruptions Near Mokama for New Bridge Work
Passengers traveling through the East Central Railway (ECR) network are facing significant travel hurdles as authorities prepare for a massive infrastructure overhaul. Between September 20 and October 4, 2026, a wave of train cancellations and route diversions will hit the region to facilitate critical bridge connectivity work.
Connecting the New Double-Line Bridge
The disruption is necessary to integrate a newly constructed double-line rail bridge into the main network. This new structure will run parallel to the existing Rajendra Bridge near Mokama, Bihar. To ensure a smooth transition, the ECR will carry out essential pre-non-interlocking and non-interlocking technical operations.
According to Saraswati Chandra, Chief Public Relations Officer (CPRO) of the ECR, this maintenance is vital for the commissioning of the new infrastructure. The work will be concentrated across the Danapur and Sonpur divisions, specifically impacting the following stations:
