383 Trains Affected: Major Schedule Changes for Poorva Express, Amritsar Mail & More
Indian Railways has announced a massive operational overhaul that will impact 383 trains between September 21 and October 4, 2026. This large-scale disruption is due to essential infrastructure upgrades being carried out on the Danapur-Howrah rail section.
Why the Massive Disruption?
The East Central Railway (Hajipur Zone) is performing critical pre-non-interlocking and interlocking works. These upgrades are vital for connecting a new double-line rail bridge—located parallel to the historic Rajendra rail-cum-road bridge near Mokama—to the Howrah-Delhi main line.
According to S. Chandra, Chief Public Relations Officer, the engineering works will be concentrated at several key locations, including:

- Tall Junction
- Hathidah Junction Upper
- Dinkar Gram Simaria
Impact on Routes and Connectivity
The scope of this work will lead to the cancellation, diversion, or partial termination of hundreds of services. Reports indicate that 338 trains are slated for cancellation, while 382 trains will face route diversions. This disruption is expected to significantly affect rail connectivity across Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, Jharkhand, and Odisha.
Major railway divisions including Danapur, Sonpur, and Malda will see changes, with passenger services at major hubs such as Patna Junction, Mokama, Barh, Barauni, Ara, and Kiul being heavily impacted.
