The Malda Division of Indian Railways has made significant progress in improving passenger facilities. A new, state-of-the-art 12-meter wide Foot Over Bridge (FOB) has been constructed at Sultanganj Railway Station. This project was carried out under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme to make commuting easier for passengers.
What are the key features of the Sultanganj FOB?
The new bridge is designed to handle heavy crowds with a width of 12 meters. The construction involved the installation of 22 girders, each measuring approximately 23 meters in length and weighing 8.3 metric tons. The work was completed safely without any disruption to train services, even during bad weather conditions.
Who managed the construction and inspection?
The project was executed under the guidance of Vinod Kumar Gupta (CAO Construction RSP Eastern Railway) and Rakesh Ranjan (Chief Engineer Construction/RSP-III). The Malda Divisional Railway Manager, Manish Kumar Gupta, provided continuous support. The Gati Shakti Unit of Malda Division also conducted inspections to ensure the work met the required standards.
What other projects are happening in Malda Division?
Apart from Sultanganj, the Malda Division is working on another wide FOB at Bhagalpur Railway Station between platforms 2 and 3. This project includes removing an old, narrow bridge and installing two new lifts to help passengers move between platforms more comfortably.
