This article provides updates on train disruptions due to landslides in Haridwar and plans for a new bus terminal in Meerut.
On Monday, there were landslides on the Haridwar Motichur railway track near Rishikesh, affecting several trains in the region. This incident has caused significant delays and cancellations, particularly for the Vande Bharat Express.
The Vande Bharat Express, which travels from Anand Vihar Terminal to Dehradun via Meerut, has been cancelled. Additionally, the Utkal Kaling Express was stopped at Haridwar station, while other passenger trains between Delhi and Haridwar were already cancelled.
Passengers were advised to check the status of their trains before heading to the station. The cancellations and delays have raised concerns among travelers, especially those relying on these services for timely journeys.
Local transport authorities are also working on changes at the Soharab Gate bus terminal in Meerut. The terminal is being revamped under a PPP (Public-Private Partnership) model, and nearly 250 buses that operate from there will need new space.
Officials are looking into acquiring land near Gandhi Ashram for the new bus terminal. In the meantime, the Meerut Development Authority has temporarily provided land on Hapur Road for the terminal’s operation. The best option will be selected soon for the new bus station.
