What’s inside:

This article talks about the increased safety measures for women traveling on suburban trains in India.

Indian Railways is focusing on women’s safety, especially during late-night travel on suburban trains. Security staff are now escorting women compartments in cities like Mumbai, Pune, Nagpur, and Nashik.

Special teams called “Meri Saheli” are deployed at important stations such as Lokmanya Tilak Terminus to monitor the trains. In Mumbai, 54 “Smart Saheli” WhatsApp groups have been created where over 23,000 women actively participate.

All 788 women coaches in the EMU trains are equipped with CCTV cameras and emergency talk-back systems. This ensures that help is available quickly if needed, especially during crowded times.

RPF personnel are stationed in the first and last coaches of suburban trains to control any incidents as trains depart from the station. This is part of their commitment to maintaining high safety standards for passengers and railway property.

The RPF team is dedicated to ensuring the safety of all passengers while upholding integrity and public service. These measures will help create a safer travel experience for women on trains.

Summary:

  • Women’s safety on suburban trains is being improved.

  • Meri Saheli teams are monitoring trains at key stations.

  • Women coaches have CCTV and emergency systems.

  • RPF staff are present in crowded trains for safety.

  • These efforts aim to ensure a secure travel experience for women.
