Indian Railways has introduced a new Superfast Express service between Agra Cantt and Asarva (Ahmedabad) to facilitate tourism between Uttar Pradesh and Gujarat. This train provides a direct link for passengers traveling between the Taj Mahal and the Statue of Unity. The regular service officially commenced on April 8, 2026, following an inauguration by Central Minister of State Prof. S.P. Singh Baghel.

What is the schedule and frequency of the Agra-Asarva Express?

The Agra Cantt-Asarva Superfast Express operates five days a week to ensure regular connectivity. Train number 20178 departs from Agra Cantt at 6:45 PM and arrives in Asarva at 11:00 AM the next morning. The return journey via train number 20177 departs Asarva at 3:00 PM and reaches Agra Cantt at 7:15 AM the following day. This schedule allows tourists to cover the distance in approximately 16 hours and 15 minutes.

  • Train 20178: Runs on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday
  • Train 20177: Runs on Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and Monday
  • Distance: Approximately 897 kilometers
  • Total Coaches: 24 coaches including Sleeper and AC tiers

Major stoppages and passenger facilities

The train service is designed to benefit several regions in Rajasthan and Gujarat. It consists of nine general coaches, ten sleeper coaches, and three AC coaches to accommodate different budget requirements. Railway officials state that this new route will increase revenue and boost local trade by linking major cultural hubs. The train passes through several important stations as listed below.
