The Railway Ministry has officially approved the construction of a new overbridge in the Mankapur area of Gonda district. This project, estimated at a cost of 50 crore rupees, is designed to provide relief to thousands of daily commuters and local residents. Once completed, the bridge will significantly reduce travel time and eliminate long queues at the railway crossing.
Why was the Mankapur overbridge project sanctioned?
The project addresses the persistent issue of traffic congestion at Railway Crossing 245. This specific crossing is located between Jhilahi and Mankapur stations under the Lucknow Division of Northeast Railway. Because of frequent train movements on this route, the gates often stay closed for long durations, causing massive jams. The new overbridge will allow vehicles to pass over the tracks without waiting for the gates to open, directly benefiting more than 20,000 people in the region.
