Indian Railways has announced the cancellation of the Chhattisgarh Express passing through Faridabad, Ballabgarh, and Palwal until April 25, 2026. This decision comes as a result of ongoing track maintenance and safety enhancement work at Gondia Railway Station. Passengers planning to travel on this route are advised to check updated schedules before heading to the stations.
Impact on train services and specific dates
The cancellation affects the service in both directions. The railway authorities have shared the specific dates for the suspension of services to help passengers plan accordingly. This includes the following train numbers:
- Train number 18237 (Korba-Amritsar Express) remains cancelled from Korba between April 5 and April 25, 2026
- Train number 18238 (Amritsar-Bilaspur Express) remains cancelled from Amritsar between April 7 and April 27, 2026
Reason for track maintenance at Gondia
South East Central Railway is undertaking work on platform number 3 at Gondia station. The project involves removing the washable apron and laying a ballasted track on line number 5. This maintenance work is essential for improving rail safety and increasing the speed of trains on this section. Although some other express trains have been restored recently, the Chhattisgarh Express remains suspended for the full duration of the scheduled work. Passengers can verify their train status via the 139 helpline or the IRCTC app.
