Passengers traveling during the summer vacation can now get confirmed tickets in North Eastern Railway special trains. While regular trains are crowded, 87 special trains are being operated in 1,757 trips from Gorakhpur to provide relief to travelers. Sumit Kumar, Chief Public Relations Officer of North Eastern Railway, has advised passengers to book their tickets early to ensure a comfortable journey.
Which trains have vacant seats for travel
As per the update on 23 April 2026, several trains have a good number of berths available in various classes. Passengers can check the availability for the following trains to secure their travel plans.

What are the overall Summer Special train plans
Indian Railways has approved a total of 908 summer special trains covering 18,262 trips between 15 April and 15 July 2026. Out of these, 660 trains have already been notified. For North Eastern Railway, 52 trains with 814 trips were approved, and 34 trains with 477 trips have been notified so far.
Additional services like the Gomti Nagar-Kolkata and Udhna-Jaynagar specials were announced on 20 April 2026. Also, a special train between Gorakhpur and Alipurduar is running on specific dates in April and May to manage the holiday rush.
