Agra railway authorities arrange temporary halt for Amritsar Express during Hanuman Mela

Agra railway passengers will benefit from two major service enhancements as authorities announce a temporary stoppage for the Amritsar Express to facilitate travel for the upcoming Hanuman Mela. Devotees attending the religious festivities will be able to board and deboard the train directly at the Eidgah railway station. Agra railway authorities announced a temporary stoppage for the Amritsar Express at Eidgah station during the Hanuman Mela. North Central Railway has invested approximately 18 crore rupees into Eidgah station under the Amrit Mission Yojana. Eidgah station now handles 51 trains and is the second-largest station in Agra after Agra Cantt.

Eidgah Station Transformation Under Amrit Mission Yojana

This temporary stoppage follows extensive infrastructure enhancements at the Eidgah railway station, which has undergone a substantial transformation under the Amrit Mission Yojana. Since the inception of the project, the North Central Railway has invested approximately 18 crore rupees into upgrading the facility, successfully positioning it as the second-largest railway station in the city after Agra Cantt. While the current operational capacity at Eidgah has grown to accommodate 51 trains, authorities continue to integrate additional stops to improve accessibility for local commuters and pilgrims alike.

Boosting Regional Rail Connectivity in Agra

The latest logistical adjustments build upon previous connectivity milestones achieved in mid-2025, when railway authorities reassigned 24 trains previously slated for Agra Fort to the Eidgah station. Plans were also introduced for temporary halts for key services such as the Howrah-Jodhpur Express. These persistent efforts to enhance rail connectivity across Agra are specially designed to streamline transit during major regional religious events, local fairs, and heavy travel seasons.
