Agra Railway Division Announces Special Trains for Janmashtami 2026

Indian Railways is making special transportation arrangements to accommodate the heavy surge in passenger traffic during the upcoming Janmashtami festival. Commencing from September 3 and running through September 5, 2026, the Agra Railway Division will operate two pairs of unreserved special trains connecting Hazrat Nizamuddin Junction and Mathura Junction to help pilgrims reach Mathura smoothly. The special train services are numbered 04410/04409 and 04412/04411. Alongside these dedicated services, the regional railway network has also facilitated transit by authorizing temporary stoppages for various trains at both Mathura Junction and Agra Cantt. Junction, a planning measure finalized in July 2026. Janmashtami falls on Friday, September 4, 2026, and key celebrations including Nandotsav and the special Mangala Aarti at the Banke Bihari Temple in Vrindavan are scheduled across September 4 and September 5.

Enhanced Security and Crowd Management Measures

Security across the region has been significantly bolstered ahead of the festival to ensure passenger safety and smooth crowd management. Authorities have deployed over 4,000 police personnel drawn from all districts within the Agra Zone. A strict three-tier security architecture has been established in accordance with Supreme Court directives. This multi-layered security plan features a Red Zone designated for the Shri Krishna Janmasthan and Shahi Idgah complex, a Yellow Zone covering the immediate vicinity, and a Green Zone managing the remainder of the city. Railway passengers and local travelers are advised to check their train schedules in advance, allow extra travel time for security checks, and utilize the newly introduced unreserved special services for a hassle-free journey.
