Ahilyanagar Beed Passenger Services Now Live!
Central Railway opens the Ahilyanagar-Beed-Wadwani section, introducing new daily services and significantly faster travel times.

Central Railway has officially launched new Ahilyanagar Beed passenger services with the commissioning of the Ahilyanagar-Beed-Wadwani section. This 201-kilometer stretch is a major component of a larger 261-kilometer project designed to integrate the historically underserved Beed district into the national railway network.
Faster Travel and New Daily Services
The introduction of this section brings massive relief to commuters. Due to recent electrification and technical upgrades, travel time on the Ahilyanagar-Beed route has been reduced by approximately one hour and 35 minutes. The journey, which used to take much longer, can now be completed in about four hours.
Adding further momentum to the region's connectivity, a new daily train service connecting Beed and Pune was inaugurated on September 17, 2026. This service is intended to strengthen the social and economic ties between the Marathwada region and western Maharashtra.
A Lifeline for Regional Growth
The project is being executed through a 50:50 cost-sharing partnership between the Maharashtra government and the Central Railway zone. Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Sunetra Pawar has been actively overseeing the progress, emphasizing that this rail link will act as a vital lifeline for the region. The enhanced connectivity is expected to facilitate growth in several key sectors:
- Agriculture
- Industry
- Trade and commerce
- Education
Connecting to Parli Vaijnath
While the current operational capacity covers the 201-kilometer stretch, the project is not yet complete. Construction is currently ongoing on the remaining 60-kilometer segment that will extend the line toward Parli Vaijnath. Authorities are continuing to work through land acquisition and technical challenges to ensure the project eventually provides seamless rail access between Beed, Pune, and Mumbai.
