Ahmedabad Bhagalpur Amrit Bharat Express begins regular operations

Indian Railways has officially commenced regular operations of the Amrit Bharat Express, establishing a new direct rail link between Ahmedabad in Gujarat and Bhagalpur in Bihar. This vital new service marks the regularization and extension of the former Ahmedabad Patna Ahmedabad Clone Special, significantly boosting interstate connectivity for regular commuters and long-distance travellers.

The Ahmedabad Bhagalpur Weekly Amrit Bharat Express began its inaugural regular service as Train No. 19423 from Ahmedabad on Wednesday, August 26, 2026. The train departs Ahmedabad every Wednesday at 6:30 PM, arriving in Bhagalpur at 6:40 AM on Friday after a journey lasting approximately 36 hours and 10 minutes. For the return direction, Train No. 19424 is scheduled to depart Bhagalpur every Friday at 4:45 PM, arriving in Ahmedabad at 5:25 AM on Sunday, taking approximately 36 hours and 40 minutes, with the inaugural return service set for August 28, 2026.

Route and Coach Composition

Covering an extensive route of approximately 1,976 km, the non-AC Superfast train makes several key stops across multiple states. Important halts along the way include Abhaypur, Patna, Mokama, Kiul, Jamalpur, Kota, Sawai Madhopur, Agra, and Pt. Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Junction.

To cater to the heavy passenger rush and ensure comfortable travel, the train consists of 22 LHB coaches. This formation includes 11 Sleeper Class coaches, 8 General Second Class coaches, 2 LSLRD coaches featuring second-class seating along with luggage vans and disabled-friendly compartments, and 1 Pantry Car. This new Amrit Bharat service successfully addresses growing passenger demand and provides seamless connectivity between Gujarat and Bihar.
