Ahmedabad Railway Station: India’s first 16-storey multi-modal hub to be ready by 2027
Ahmedabad is getting a massive makeover with the construction of India’s first 16-storey multi-modal railway station at Kalupur. This project aims to integrate bullet trains, metro, buses, and traditional trains under one roof. What are the key features of the new station?
The station is being built over platforms 10, 11, and 12 of the existing Ahmedabad station and will connect directly to the Kalupur Metro station. With a project cost of approximately 24,000 crore rupees, it will feature a design inspired by the local culture of Ahmedabad. The building will include a four-star hotel, retail shops, a mall, and modern lounges for passengers.

What is the current progress of the project?
Western Railway DRM Ved Prakash stated that 15 floors of the 16-storey building are already complete. The pillars for the two underground levels and the top two floors are also ready. Additionally, the elevated roads leading to the station have been constructed. This hub will be a central point for the 508 km Mumbai-Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail corridor developed with Japanese cooperation.
