Aligarh Junction to Get New Foot Overbridge to Ease Crowd
Aligarh Junction is set to get a new foot overbridge to reduce passenger congestion and improve accessibility under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme.

Aligarh Junction is set for a massive facelift to tackle the heavy passenger rush. Authorities have officially proposed the construction of a new foot overbridge (FOB) to streamline movement and ensure smoother transit for thousands of daily commuters.
Survey Completed; Waiting for Railway Board Approval
The project is already moving through the necessary administrative channels. A technical survey for the new infrastructure has been successfully completed, and a formal proposal has been submitted to the Railway Board. The project is now awaiting final approval and budget allocation.
Once the board gives the green light, construction is expected to commence immediately, marking a significant step in the station's modernization.
Relief for Senior Citizens and Disabled Passengers
The proposed bridge comes as a much-needed solution to the persistent overcrowding at the station. Currently, the existing foot overbridge often becomes a bottleneck, especially during the peak arrival and departure times of major trains.
The situation is particularly difficult for vulnerable passengers. Due to the intermittent failure of existing lifts and escalators, senior citizens, women, and passengers with disabilities are often forced to navigate steep stairs. This new FOB aims to provide a safer and more efficient way to navigate the junction.
Modernization Under Amrit Bharat Station Scheme
This infrastructure upgrade is part of a broader modernization drive. Aligarh Junction is currently being assessed for redevelopment under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, which focuses on upgrading station amenities and improving passenger experience across the country.
