Amrit Bharat Express Engine Fails at Athmalgola Station, Train Reaches Destination with 5-Hour Delay

The Amrit Bharat Express, train number 22588 running from Banaras to Sealdah, faced a major technical breakdown early Saturday morning at Athmalgola station. The engine stopped working between 5 AM and 6 AM, leaving hundreds of passengers stranded for several hours. This led to a tense situation at the station as passengers protested the long wait and the lack of immediate solutions.

The loco pilot initially tried to fix the engine on the tracks, but the mechanical fault could not be repaired on-site. To get the train moving, the Danapur control center gave permission for a unique arrangement. A goods train was standing on the third line at the station at that time. Its engine was detached and then connected to the Amrit Bharat Express. This move allowed the train to finally resume its journey after being stuck at the platform for about three hours.

Passenger agitation and response from RPF

As the delay continued, frustrated passengers entered the station panel room and started arguing with railway employees. The situation became difficult to manage for the local staff until security personnel arrived. RPF in-charge Jawahar Lal from Bakhtiyarpur and his team reached the spot and pacified the agitated crowd. While the train eventually started moving with the help of the goods train locomotive, it reached its destination nearly five hours behind schedule.
