Amrit Bharat Express: Route and timings changed for Amritsar-New Jalpaiguri train, check details
The Railway Board has issued a revised notification on May 11, 2026, regarding the route and schedule of the Amritsar-New Jalpaiguri Amrit Bharat Express (14663/14664). This update replaces the previous order from February 25, 2026. The changes aim to provide better connectivity for passengers from Seemanchal, Kosi-Mithila, and the Nepal border area to Punjab and Delhi.
What are the new timings and frequency?
The train will operate on a weekly basis. The 14664 Amritsar-New Jalpaiguri Amrit Bharat Express will leave Amritsar every Thursday at 12:45 PM and reach New Jalpaiguri on Saturday at 4:15 AM. Conversely, the 14663 New Jalpaiguri-Amritsar Amrit Bharat Express will depart New Jalpaiguri every Saturday at 8:00 AM and arrive in Amritsar on Monday at 2:20 AM.
What is the new route and key stoppages?
The train will now travel via Farbisganj, Nirmali, Saraigarh, and Raghopur. It will also use the Lalitgram bypass and the newly constructed Araria-Galgalia rail section. A significant update is the commercial stoppage at Thakurganj station, which will benefit passengers from Kishanganj and the Nepal border region.

MP Pradeep Singh thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw for this initiative. The Bihar Daily Passengers Association and Indo Nepal Organisation of Rail Users also welcomed the move, though they have requested the train be operated three times a week instead of weekly due to high demand. DPRO Saraswati Chandra (ECR) stated that the official date for regular operations will be announced soon.
