Amroha district starts land acquisition for Delhi Moradabad railway line expansion

Authorities in Amroha district have initiated the land acquisition process to facilitate the construction of third and fourth railway lines along the Delhi-Moradabad route, a project designed to alleviate traffic congestion on this vital corridor. As of September 10, 2026, the administration has commenced efforts to acquire approximately 71.39 hectares of land spanning 46 villages across the tehsils of Amroha, Dhanaura, and Hasanpur. This crucial infrastructure upgrade aims to streamline train movement and improve punctuality for passengers traveling across the region.

To prevent unauthorized transactions or development, the district administration has implemented a halt on the sale, purchase, and construction activities, including Section 80 proceedings, on the identified plots. According to official documentation regarding the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs' April 2026 approval, this initiative is part of a broader 402.78-kilometer project extending through Ghaziabad, Moradabad, Roza, and Sitapur.

Land Breakdown Across Tehsils

Special Land Acquisition Officer Karmendra Singh stated that the administration is currently working with railway officials to finalize a detailed proposal, including specific plot numbers, to identify the precise land parcels and the affected farmers. The total acquisition area breaks down as 48.1182 hectares across 27 villages in Amroha tehsil, 12.487 hectares across 14 villages in Dhanaura tehsil, and 10.787 hectares across 5 villages in Hasanpur tehsil.

Project Timeline and Network Importance

The expansion is a key component of the Delhi-Guwahati High-Density Network and is slated for completion by the 2030-31 fiscal year. Once finished, this massive undertaking will significantly boost line capacity, reduce bottlenecks, and allow Indian Railways to operate more passenger and freight trains smoothly along this busy corridor.
