North East Frontier Railway has announced the operation of a special festival train between Anand Vihar Terminal and Jogbani to manage the massive passenger rush during the upcoming Durga Puja, Diwali, and Chhath festivals. This 20-coach special train will provide much-needed relief to travellers from the Seemanchal and Kosi regions heading towards Delhi-NCR, passing through key stations such as Katihar, Purnia, Forbesganj, and Naugachia. Additionally, railway authorities have extended the trips of the Santragachi-Naharlagun special train to cater to heavy travel demands. Passengers can expect seamless connectivity and a smoother journey during the peak festive season.

Train number 04008 Anand Vihar Terminal to Jogbani Festival Special Express will operate for 5 trips from
10 October to 07 November 2026. In the return direction,
train number 04007 Jogbani to Anand Vihar Terminal Festival Special will run for 5 trips from
11 October to 08 November 2026. This 20-coach special train will halt at several important stations under the Katihar railway division including Forbesganj, Purnia Junction, Katihar, and Naugachia, alongside Khagaria, Begusarai, Barauni, Hajipur, Chhapra, Gorakhpur, Gonda, Shahjahanpur, Bareilly, Moradabad, and Ghaziabad. This service directly benefits migrants from the Seemanchal region travelling to Delhi and individuals returning home for the festivals.
In response to high passenger demand, railway administration has also extended the operation of
train number 08047 Santragachi Junction to Naharlagun Special for 3 additional trips on
11, 18, and 25 September 2026. Similarly, the return service
train number 08048 Naharlagun to Santragachi Junction Special will run for 3 additional trips on
12, 19, and 26 September 2026. Railway authorities advise all passengers to verify detailed stoppages and timings through the official IRCTC website or by dialing the railway helpline number 139 before planning their journey.
