Auraiya DFC Crossing Closed Oct 22-29: Plan Your Route!

Commuters and transporters in Uttar Pradesh need to prepare for significant travel changes. The Dedicated Freight Corridor (DFC) railway crossing located near the Kanchausi Railway Station in Auraiya is scheduled for a temporary closure from October 22 to October 29, 2026.
Essential Track Maintenance Underway
According to Lalji Anand, the Deputy Chief Project Manager of the DFC in Tundla, this eight-day closure is necessary to facilitate essential maintenance and repair work on the railway tracks. This work is vital for ensuring the continued safety and efficiency of the corridor.
Major Diversions and Travel Impact
The closure will make the crossing inaccessible, impacting those traveling to and from several key areas, including:
- Rasulabad
- Kanpur Dehat
- Kannauj
- Farrukhabad
- Auraiya
To avoid delays, motorists are advised to divert via Parjani and Bijai. This detour will add approximately 5 kilometers to the journey, which is expected to increase travel time and fuel consumption for local commuters.
Festive Season Logistics at Risk
The timing of this project has raised concerns among the local community. As the maintenance coincides with the busy period leading up to Diwali and Dhanteras, there are worries about the impact on daily logistics. Local traders, farmers, and students have specifically highlighted the potential disruption to the transportation of paddy and other essential goods during this peak season.
Residents Urge Nighttime Access
In response to these challenges, local residents have formally requested railway authorities and senior officials in Auraiya and Kanpur Dehat to consider a compromise. They have urged the authorities to open the crossing during nighttime hours, specifically from 6 PM to 6 AM, to mitigate the disruption to daily life.
Lalji Anand has requested that vehicle owners plan their journeys in advance and utilize the designated diversion routes to avoid potential traffic congestion and inconvenience during the repair window.
