Auraiya DFC Railway Crossing Closure: Oct 22-29

Commuters should prepare for the upcoming Auraiya DFC railway crossing closure at Kanchausi. Scheduled for essential maintenance on the busy Delhi-Howrah rail route, the crossing will be inaccessible for several hours daily from October 22 to October 29, 2026.
Daily 12-Hour Maintenance Window
According to official announcements, the crossing gate will be closed for a 12-hour period every day during the maintenance period. The specific hours of closure will be from 6 AM to 6 PM. Lalji Anand, the Deputy Chief Project Manager for DFC Tundla, has confirmed the schedule and advised all vehicle operators to utilize alternative routes to prevent significant traffic congestion.
Alternative Routes and Detours
Motorists traveling to or from Rasoolabad, Kanpur Dehat, Kannauj, Farrukhabad, and Auraiya will need to adjust their travel plans. To avoid the closed crossing, the following detour routes have been suggested:
- Via Parjani
- Via Bijhai
Commuters should account for an additional travel distance of approximately five kilometers when using these alternative paths.
Concerns Over Festive Season Disruptions
The timing of this maintenance work has caused concern among local residents, as it coincides with the Diwali and Dhanteras festivities. The closure is expected to impact various essential services and daily activities, particularly for:
- Traders and Farmers moving goods for the festive season
- Students traveling to schools and colleges
- Patients requiring timely access to medical facilities
In light of these challenges, community members have reached out to the railway and administrative authorities in both Auraiya and Kanpur Dehat. They have requested that the authorities consider opening the gate during the nighttime hours—from 6 PM to 6 AM—to help minimize the inconvenience caused to the public during this busy period.
