Ayodhya Darshan Nagar Station Gets Amrit Bharat Makeover

The Darshan Nagar station modernization project has officially entered its construction phase. Located on the crucial Ayodhya Cantt-Varanasi rail section, this redevelopment marks a significant step in upgrading the infrastructure to support the growing influx of visitors to the holy city.

A ₹21.9 Crore Upgrade for Pilgrims

Under the central government’s ambitious Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, the reconstruction of Darshan Nagar is designed to provide high-tech amenities and modern facilities. Prime Minister Narendra Modi had virtually laid the foundation stone for this redevelopment in August 2023, with a total project cost allocated at ₹21.9 crore.

The station holds immense strategic importance for travelers due to its proximity to key spiritual sites, including:

  • Surya Kund
  • The 14 Kosi Parikrama Marg

As Ayodhya continues to evolve as a global pilgrimage hub, the revamped station will serve as a critical gateway for tourists and devotees.

World-Class Amenities and Cultural Design

The redevelopment plan focuses on enhancing passenger comfort and operational efficiency. The upgraded station is set to feature a wide range of modern facilities, such as:

  • A 12-meter wide overbridge to facilitate seamless passenger movement.
  • Modern food plazas and retail facilities for travelers.
  • Enhanced waiting rooms and dedicated baby feeding rooms.
  • Improved parking zones to manage increased traffic.

In a unique attempt to blend utility with heritage, the architectural design of the station will integrate local cultural elements, ensuring the aesthetics reflect the grandeur of the Ram Mandir.

Part of a Massive National Infrastructure Push

The transformation at Darshan Nagar is part of a much larger national initiative. Under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, 1,334 stations are being redeveloped across India, with construction activities already actively underway at 1,100 of these locations.

Looking toward the future, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw has announced a long-term strategy to double the operational capacity of railways in 48 major cities, including Ayodhya, by the year 2030.
