Bahraich to Khalilabad Railway Line: Project status and expected completion date updated
The construction of the 240.26 km long new broad gauge railway line from Bahraich to Khalilabad is moving forward. This project will connect five districts of Uttar Pradesh, including Sant Kabir Nagar, Siddharthnagar, Balrampur, Shravasti, and Bahraich. The railway department aims to finish the work by 2026-27 to improve connectivity in the Purvanchal region.
What is the current progress of the railway line
The project is being built in three phases. The first phase from Khalilabad to Bansi is at an advanced stage. Around 50% of the total land acquisition is complete, with work almost finished in Bahraich and Siddharthnagar districts. Currently, work on soil filling, ballast laying, railway overbridges, and underpasses is happening quickly. In Sant Kabir Nagar, four stations and several underpasses are being constructed.
