Rs 931 Cr Project: Bakhtiyarpur-Fatuha Third Fourth Line!

The Railway Board has officially sanctioned a major infrastructure upgrade for the Bakhtiyarpur-Fatuha third fourth line project. This 24-kilometer stretch in Bihar is set for a massive transformation with an approved budget of approximately ₹931 crore.
Major Infrastructure Expansion in Bihar
Saraswati Chandra, the Chief Public Relations Officer (CPRO) of East Central Railway, confirmed that the project involves the acquisition of 6.6 hectares of land, which includes both government and private property. A joint survey conducted by the Revenue Department and Rail Administration has already been concluded. Currently, preparations for the formal gazette notification are underway to facilitate the land transfer and the distribution of compensation to the concerned parties.
Timeline for Implementation
The project is moving toward rapid execution. Officials expect to issue tenders for the selection of a construction agency within the month of October. Following the tender process, the land acquisition phase is slated to commence in November.
Part of a Massive ₹17,000 Crore Network Upgrade
This specific section is a vital component of a much larger, 400-kilometer expansion initiative. The broader project aims to increase track capacity between Pt. Deen Dayal Upadhyaya (DDU) Junction and Jhajha, involving a total investment of ₹17,000 crore. The development is segmented into six strategic phases:
- DDU to Danapur
- Danapur to Fatuha
- Fatuha to Bakhtiyarpur
- Bakhtiyarpur to Punarakh
