Ballia Relief: ₹165 Crore Y-Shaped Railway Overbridge Work Starts

Commuters in Ballia are set to witness a major transformation in regional travel as excavation work has officially commenced for a massive new Y-shaped railway overbridge (ROB). This critical infrastructure project is specifically designed to end the chronic traffic congestion that has plagued the area following the closure of the Bansdih Road railway crossing.

The project is situated on the high-traffic Varanasi-Chhapra rail section. With a finalized Detailed Project Report (DPR) valued at ₹165 crore, the initiative is being executed through a strategic collaboration between the Uttar Pradesh state government and the railway authorities.

A Major Push for Connectivity

The development of transit infrastructure in the district is expanding rapidly. In addition to the Y-shaped bridge, the UP State Bridge Corporation Limited is moving ahead with another vital project: a two-lane rail overbridge on the Ballia bypass. This bridge will provide a crucial link between NH Vaina and the Ballia-Bansdih road.

According to official tender records, Krishna Associate emerged as the lowest bidder for this bypass project, submitting a quote of ₹81.10 crore.

Eliminating Roadside Bottlenecks

The modernization drive continues with further planning for connectivity enhancements. A tender is currently in progress for a four-lane railway overbridge at Level Crossing No. 15T near Rasra. This bridge is intended to serve the Ghazipur-Turtipar State Highway No. 108.

These combined efforts represent a significant push to modernize the transport network in the Ballia district, aiming to eliminate the long-standing bottlenecks caused by level crossings and ensure smoother movement for both local and long-distance travelers.
