Banda Railway Overbridge Metro Makeover; Traffic Diversions

The railway overbridge in Banda is set for a stunning aesthetic transformation. Aiming to bring a metropolitan feel to the region, the Nagar Palika Parishad plans to model the structure after the modern designs seen in major cities like Delhi and Lucknow.

A ₹1.39 Crore Metropolitan Transformation

The municipal body has officially issued tenders worth a total of ₹1.39 crore to execute this ambitious beautification project. The budget is strategically divided to ensure high-quality results:

  • ₹99.50 lakh allocated for general beautification works.
  • ₹39.62 lakh specifically designated for CNC (Computer Numerical Control) enhancements.

According to Shrichand, the Executive Officer (E.O.) of Banda, the bridge will feature sophisticated laser-cut designer grilles, reminiscent of the sleek aesthetics found at modern metro stations. The upgrade will also include:

  • Vibrant, high-quality painting.
  • Advanced LED and facade lighting to enhance night-time visibility.
  • Welcome boards and informative plaques.
  • Potential additions of flower pots and radium strips for added visual appeal.

Traffic Disruptions: Bisanda-Baberu Road Closed

While the future looks bright, the ongoing construction at the Bisanda Road railway crossing has caused immediate logistical challenges. As of October 16, 2026, the Bisanda-Baberu road has been completely closed to traffic.

This closure has significantly impacted connectivity for residents traveling to and from:

  • Bisanda
  • Baberu
  • Oran
  • Fatehpur

Official Traffic Diversions

To manage the flow of vehicles and mitigate the impact of the closure, the Railway Board has implemented two primary traffic diversions:

  1. A diversion route near the local Mandi.
  2. A diversion route near the Dikhit Vara Canal.

Concerns have been raised regarding the quality of these alternative routes. Former student union president Arjun Mishra has submitted a memorandum to the Sub-Divisional Magistrate, highlighting the deteriorating condition of the canal-side diversion, which is currently plagued by heavy potholes.
