Bandikui Junction opens new passenger elevator facilities this August

The North Western Railway is set to operationalize new elevator facilities at Bandikui Junction within the month of August 2026. This crucial infrastructure upgrade is part of the broader Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, which involves a total redevelopment investment of 24.27 crore rupees. The installation project aims to significantly improve accessibility for the elderly, disabled passengers, and those carrying heavy luggage who navigate the station daily.

Following the completion of construction work across platforms 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6, the new lifts are expected to serve a major portion of the station footfall. While officials noted that the integration of the facility is in its final stages as of mid-August 2026, concerns have been raised regarding the absence of elevator access on platform 1. To ensure passenger safety, the railway administration has confirmed plans to equip the interiors of the new lifts with CCTV surveillance systems.

Modern Amenities at Bandikui Junction

In addition to the elevator project, the comprehensive station redevelopment includes a modern foot-over bridge measuring 12 meters in width and 90 meters in length. The bustling junction currently facilitates the movement of approximately 7,000 passengers daily. Railway officials anticipate that these modernized amenities will streamline operations, enhance security, and provide a much more seamless travel experience for all commuters using the station.
