The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) reported that the injured passengers were promptly admitted to the hospital for treatment. The incident happened around 5:56 am and was attributed to an overwhelming crowd trying to board the 22921 Bandra-Gorakhpur Express train. A civic official indicated that the stampede broke out during a scuffle among passengers attempting to board the train.

The BMC officials have identified the injured passengers involved in the incident, which includes individuals of various ages. The injured are Shabir Abdul Rehman (40), Parmeshwar Sukhdar Gupta (28), Ravindra Harihar Chuma (30), Ramsevak Ravindra Prasad Prajapati (29), Sanjay Tilakram Kange (27), Divyanshu Yogendra Yadav (18), Mohammad Sharif Shaikh (25), Inderjit Sahani (19), and Noor Mohammad Shaikh (18). Their conditions have not been disclosed, but they are currently receiving medical attention.

In the wake of the Bandra incident, Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut criticized the BJP government, citing a rise in railway accidents since the current administration took power.
