Barabanki to Get New Railway Parts Factory; 15,000 Jobs Expected

Barabanki is on the verge of a massive industrial transformation. The announcement of a new railway parts manufacturing facility is set to turn the district into a vital hub for the nation's transport infrastructure, promising a significant boost to the local economy.
This ambitious project is expected to generate between 10,000 and 15,000 direct and indirect jobs. This surge in employment will provide much-needed regional work opportunities for the local youth and stimulate economic activity across the entire district.
A Powerhouse for Railway Components
The new manufacturing facility will be established at the Somaiya Nagar mini industrial area on Dewa Road. This factory is not just a small unit; it is designed to produce a wide array of critical components essential for the smooth operation of the Indian Railways. The production line will include:
- Train wheels and axles
- Couplers and sleepers
- Fasteners and pantographs for electric trains
- Air brakes, brake pads, and discs
- Springs and dampers for suspension
- Fish plates, bearings, and track circuits
Massive Investment and Global Interest
The railway factory is a cornerstone of a much larger investment wave hitting Barabanki. During a recent ground-breaking ceremony, the district successfully secured investment agreements totaling 9,032 crore rupees, significantly surpassing initial targets. This massive influx of capital has attracted 167 investors from outside the state, signaling strong confidence in the region's industrial potential.
District Entrepreneur Friend, F. Rahman, confirmed that these investment proposals are the driving force behind the projected employment figures. Furthermore, Deputy Commissioner of Industries Dinesh Chaurasia highlighted the railway parts factory as a landmark achievement for the district's development.
Integrating with National Logistics
The industrial growth is being further accelerated by the development of the Purvanchal Expressway Industrial Corridor. Spanning 241 hectares, this project has already received 250 crore rupees in development approvals.
Under the Pradhan Mantri Gati Shakti Yojana, these local industries will be directly linked to the national railway logistics network. This strategic integration is designed to:
- Significantly reduce transportation costs for manufacturers.
- Provide industrial units with affordable and accessible logistical solutions.
- Offer environmentally friendly transport options for moving goods.
Diversifying the Industrial Landscape
While railway manufacturing takes center stage, Barabanki is diversifying its industrial portfolio. Other notable projects include Vaidehi Infra Technology, which plans to manufacture railway web switches, and Agrinex Biosciences, which will focus on the production of medical equipment. This multi-sectoral approach ensures that Barabanki is building a resilient and modern industrial economy.
