Travelers passing through the Barauni region should prepare for significant changes to their rail itineraries. Indian Railways and the East Central Railway have announced a massive 14-day operational disruption starting from September 21 to October 4, 2026.
The disruption is necessary to facilitate the integration of a new double-track rail bridge over the Ganges River. This new structure, built parallel to the existing Rajendra Bridge, is being connected to the main rail line through essential pre-non-interlocking and non-interlocking works. This project is a vital step toward enhancing connectivity between northern and eastern Bihar.

The scheduled traffic block will lead to a massive reshuffling of train schedules. According to information provided by the East Central Railway, the impact includes:
- 338 trains will be cancelled.
- 384 trains will be diverted via alternative routes.
- 67 trains will experience short-origination.
- 56 trains will be short-terminated.
Specifically, approximately 64 trains under the Malda Division are expected to be cancelled on various dates during this window.
