Indian Railways invests thirty three crore rupees to upgrade Bateshwar Halt station

The Agra Division of Indian Railways is transforming the historic Bateshwar Halt station by elevating it from a D class halt to a B class crossing station with a total sanctioned investment of ₹33 crore. This major infrastructure upgrade follows a proposal from the Agra division and was confirmed by North Central Railway Agra Division Public Relations Officer Prashasti Srivastava. The formal communication regarding the project was delivered by Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw to Fatehpur Sikri Member of Parliament Raj Kumar Chahar after he advocated for the station in the Lok Sabha. Bateshwar carries immense historical and national significance as the ancestral village of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, and it attracts visitors through its ancient Yamuna riverbank Shiv temples and the annual Bateshwar Pashu Mela. Situated on the Bhandai-Udimore section between Bah and Fatehabad stations, the facility is undergoing a comprehensive modernization to boost regional connectivity and passenger convenience.

Key Infrastructure Upgrades

The extensive modernization project incorporates several crucial engineering and passenger amenity works. The scope of work features the construction of two 750-meter loop lines, a brand new station building accompanied by an integrated electrical building, and the installation of a high-level platform for safer boarding. Travelers and local residents will also benefit from an enhanced circulating area, a dedicated water tank, a new borewell, and a reliable pump house. Special attention is being given to inclusivity through the inclusion of facilities dedicated to Divyangjans or persons with disabilities. Furthermore, the technical framework is receiving a massive boost with upgrades to Signaling and Telecom equipment, modern Electronic Interlocking systems, and necessary modifications to Overhead Equipment for the newly laid loop lines. In a parallel initiative, Bateshwar Dham is also experiencing a broader spiritual and heritage tourism development project estimated at ₹71.50 crore, which has a projected completion date of December 2026.
