Bateshwar Station Upgrade: MP Inspects ₹33.45 Cr Project

Fatehpur Sikri Member of Parliament Rajkumar Chahar conducted a high-level inspection of the massive redevelopment works at Bateshwar Railway Station on Wednesday, October 7, 2026. The project, which carries a total investment of ₹33.45 crore, is set to transform the facility from a 'D' category halt station into a significant 'B' category crossing station.

Massive Infrastructure Overhaul in Progress

Sanctioned during the 2025-26 financial year, the upgrade is moving at a rapid pace with a scheduled completion date of November 2026. During his site visit, which began in the late afternoon, MP Chahar reviewed the progress of several critical infrastructure components aimed at modernizing the station. Key developments include:

  • New Station Building: Construction is underway to provide a modern facility for passengers.
  • Operational Capacity: The installation of two 750-meter-long loop lines to streamline train movements and operations.
  • Advanced Technology: The integration of electronic interlocking and upgraded telecommunication gear to ensure safety and efficiency.
  • Enhanced Amenities: The addition of new high-level platforms and improved circulating areas to better manage passenger flow.

The upgrade is not just about infrastructure; it is about connecting people to the rich heritage of the region. Bateshwar holds profound historical importance as the ancestral village of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee. Furthermore, the area is a major hub for pilgrims visiting the ancient Shiv temples and attracts massive crowds during the annual cattle fair.

By upgrading the station, the Railways aims to provide seamless connectivity for the thousands of tourists and devotees who visit these historically significant sites every year.

Ministerial Foundation Stone Ceremony Set for October 14

The project is nearing a major milestone. Preparations are currently in full swing for a virtual foundation stone laying ceremony, which is expected to be presided over by Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw on October 14, 2026.

Accompanying the MP during the inspection were Agra Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) Gagan Goyal and a senior team of railway officials, including experts from the engineering, signaling, and operations departments. MP Chahar emphasized the importance of maintaining high construction quality and strictly adhering to the timeline to ensure that the enhanced passenger conveniences are delivered without delay.
