Belthara Road station foot overbridge is ready but lift work is still pending

Passengers visiting the Belthara Road Railway Station can now use a newly constructed foot overbridge that connects Platform 1 to Platform 3. While this structure is fully ready for public use, the pending installation of lifts continues to pose major accessibility challenges for elderly citizens, disabled travelers, patients, and families traveling with young children who find it difficult to climb the stairs. This infrastructure upgrade is being executed as part of the ambitious Amrit Bharat Station Scheme of Indian Railways.

As of August 17, 2026, construction crews are actively working on the lift installation, with foundation work underway on the eastern side and excavation progress on the western side of the station.

The ongoing modernization works at Belthara Road are part of a broader push to revamp regional rail facilities. North Eastern Railway General Manager Uday Borwankar conducted an on-site inspection of these facility upgrades on April 9, 2026, where he discussed installation timelines with a former DRUCC member.

Although the lifts are still awaiting completion, several other passenger amenities are nearing their final stages. Travelers will soon benefit from a brand new ticket counter and modern pay-and-use toilet facilities. In addition to passenger amenity upgrades, the station is undergoing major engineering works for a double-line track expansion aimed at significantly improving regional rail traffic flow and infrastructure capabilities.
