The fire was reported around 1:55 PM on Saturday. It quickly spread through the slum area, destroying approximately 50 to 60 huts. Dense black smoke covered the entire area, and the overhead electrical traction wires of the railway line were also burnt. Local residents tried to put out the fire initially before the fire brigade arrived.

How did the Railway and Fire Department respond?

Eastern Railway immediately cut off the power supply to the overhead electrical lines to prevent further accidents. The fire department sent four engines to control the blaze. According to officials, the fire may have started due to a short circuit. No injuries were reported in the incident.
