Indian Railways launches Bhagalpur Delhi festive special trains with new halts

Indian Railways is operating special train services between Bhagalpur and Delhi to clear the heavy festive rush during Durga Puja Diwali and Chhath Puja. This initiative by Eastern Railway aims to reduce long waiting lists on regular routes and enhance travel convenience for passengers particularly across the Rohtas district. The festive special will run from October 10 to November 27, 2026, offering an 18-coach composition consisting of AC 2-tier, AC 3-tier, and sleeper class coaches. Train number 04061 from Bhagalpur to Delhi will operate from October 12 to November 27, while train number 04062 from Delhi to Bhagalpur will run daily from October 10 to November 25.

Expanded Station Halts and Route Details

To ensure better regional connectivity, authorities have introduced five new station halts including Dehri-on-Sone and Sasaram Junction in the Rohtas district. Between Gaya and Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Junction, the service will additionally halt at Rafiganj, Anugrah Narayan Road, and Bhabua Road. Other major scheduled stops along the route include Sultanganj, Jamalpur Junction, Abhaipur, Kiul Junction, Sheikhpura Junction, Warisaliganj, Nawada, Tilaiya Junction, Gaya Junction, DDU Junction, Prayagraj Junction, Govindpuri, Tundla Junction, and Aligarh Junction.

Timings and Schedule Information

Passengers must note the precise timings to plan their journeys effectively. Train 04061 will depart Bhagalpur at 4:30 p.m., reaching Dehri-on-Sone at 12:23 a.m., Sasaram Junction at 12:40 a.m., and Bhabua Road at 1:13 a.m., before finally arriving at Delhi Junction at 8:18 p.m. the following day. On the return leg, train 04062 is scheduled to depart Delhi Junction at 11:45 a.m., reaching Bhagalpur at 1:30 p.m. the next day. Travelers are advised to book their tickets in advance through IRCTC to secure confirmed berths during the peak holiday season.
