Indian Railways will upgrade Bhagalpur Gandhidham Special to Amrit Bharat Express

Indian Railways is upgrading the existing Bhagalpur-Gandhidham Special train to the premium Amrit Bharat Express service to significantly improve connectivity between Bihar and Gujarat. This major regularisation and upgrade will bring modern travel amenities to passengers while streamlining operations across the long-distance route. According to recent updates from August 29, 2026, the train is also receiving a revised route alignment to better serve travellers. Instead of its previous route via Varanasi, the upgraded Amrit Bharat Express will now operate through Gorakhpur.
Operating since 2019, the existing special train service typically covers the extensive distance between Bhagalpur and Gandhidham in approximately 51 hours. Under the current operational schedule, the train arrives in Bhagalpur on Sundays and departs for Gandhidham on Monday mornings at 5:00 AM. Railway authorities expect this route adjustment and upgrade to directly benefit over 1,600 passengers per trip, offering them much more direct, comfortable, and efficient travel options.
