Balaghat: Bhatera Railway Crossing Closed for New ROB
The Bhatera railway crossing in Balaghat is closed until March 2027 for ROB construction. Check the new traffic diversion routes here.

Commuters in Balaghat must prepare for significant travel changes as the Bhatera railway crossing has been officially closed. This suspension is necessary to facilitate the construction of a new Railway Over Bridge (ROB), a major infrastructure project aimed at improving regional transit.
The closure began on October 31, 2026, and is slated to continue until March 31, 2027. The project is being carried out through a joint effort between the Railway Department and the Public Works Department's (PWD) Bridge Construction Division.
Major Traffic Diversions for Heavy Vehicles
To manage the impact on public transport and logistics, the district administration and local police have rolled out a comprehensive diversion plan. Heavy vehicles and passenger buses traveling on routes connecting Nainpur, Balaghat, Seoni, and Baihar are being rerouted.
- Primary Diversion Route: The Magardarra–Lalbarra path.
- New Bus Stand: To accommodate passengers from the Nainpur route, a temporary bus stand has been set up in front of Maharishi School.
Routes for Light Vehicles and Two-Wheelers
Authorities have established specific paths to ensure that private cars, school buses, and essential service providers can still navigate the area efficiently.
Light Vehicle Route
Light vehicles are directed to start from the St. Mary’s School petrol pump, travel through the Boda-Aamjhari road, and proceed to the new connection near the BK-1 level crossing on Baihar Road.
Two-Wheeler Access
Two-wheeler riders can use a dedicated passage through the Bhatera Chowki Pump House alley. This allows them to reach the Baihar-Balaghat main road via the BK-1 crossing.
Safety and Oversight
The diversion strategy and site inspections were conducted by Sub-Divisional Officer (SDO) Revenue Gopal Soni, the City Superintendent of Police (CSP), and representatives from the Bridge Construction Department. To minimize public inconvenience and prioritize road safety, the administration has mandated that all temporary routes must be:
- Properly signposted for clear navigation.
- Well-lit to ensure safety during night travel.
- Regularly maintained by the relevant departments.
