Bhavnathpur-Dehri Rail Link: Survey Done, Awaiting Budget

The long-awaited Bhavnathpur Dehri-on-Sone rail link has reached a significant milestone, though the project still faces a major bureaucratic hurdle. Indian Railways has officially completed the comprehensive survey for the proposed line, which is intended to bridge the connectivity gap in the region.

Route Details and Progress

The proposed railway line is designed to pass through several key areas, including Kandi, Bauliya, and Rohtas. This route is expected to serve as a vital artery for the region, potentially integrating hundreds of villages into the national railway network.

According to official information provided by the Railways in response to communication from the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), the survey report was formally submitted to the relevant department on January 20, 2022. This marks the completion of the essential assessment phase required to move the project forward.

Pending Approvals and Funding

Despite the technical survey being finalized, the project remains in a state of waiting. The expansion currently hinges on two critical factors:

  • Formal construction approval from the Central Government.
  • The allocation of the necessary budget to initiate work.

Decades of Local Advocacy

The push for this infrastructure has been a persistent struggle for the local population, with advocacy efforts spanning approximately 35 years. Various representatives have been working to bring this issue to the attention of the authorities to ensure the region's development is prioritized.

Among those actively highlighting the urgency of the situation is Pradeep Kumar Chaubey, the former BJP Kisan Morcha state in-charge, who has been vocal in urging the government to expedite the process.
