Bhopal-Ayodhya Direct Train & Mandi Bamora Upgrades Demanded

Rajya Sabha MP Rajneesh Kumar Agarwal has formally proposed several key improvements to rail connectivity and passenger amenities following a high-level meeting with senior West Central Railway officials, including the General Manager, on November 4, 2026.

New Routes and Schedule Revisions

A major highlight of the discussions was the MP's proposal for a new daily direct train service connecting Bhopal and Ayodhya. This move aims to enhance connectivity between these two significant cities. In addition to this new route, Agarwal requested the extension of the Mahamana Express to Rani Kamlapati station to better serve commuters. He also called for a necessary revision to the current scheduling of the Vindhyachal Express to improve its efficiency and passenger convenience.

Boosting Mandi Bamora Station

The MP placed significant emphasis on the development of Mandi Bamora station, advocating for several infrastructure and service upgrades. His specific demands included:

  • The introduction of new train stoppages at Mandi Bamora for the Prayagraj Express, Itarsi Express, and Patalkot Express.
  • The inclusion of Mandi Bamora station under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme to modernize its facilities.
  • The establishment of a PM Gati Shakti Cargo Terminal at the location to boost local logistics and trade.

Official Response on Stoppages

In response to these various demands, railway officials clarified that the provision of new train stoppages is a complex process. They noted that any such addition is strictly contingent upon traffic justification and operational feasibility.

While zonal authorities are responsible for reviewing these requests, the officials emphasized that final decisions regarding the introduction or restoration of stoppages often require the formal approval of the Railway Board. Every proposal is carefully evaluated against the need to maintain network mobility, ensure operational speed, and manage the overall operational costs across the entire rail network.
