New Bhuj-Barauni Amrit Bharat Express Approved via Barhni

In a significant move to enhance long-distance connectivity, the Ministry of Railways has officially approved the operation of the new Bhuj-Barauni Amrit Bharat Express. This tri-weekly service will bridge the gap between Gujarat and Bihar, traversing a massive distance of 2,532 km through the states of Gujarat, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, and Bihar.
The Railway Board initially authorized the service around September 25, 2026, with the formal route confirmation following on October 4, 2026. A major highlight of this new service is its strategic routing through Barhni and Siddharthnagar, which is expected to provide much-needed connectivity to passengers near the Nepal border and stimulate regional trade, tourism, and employment.
Detailed Train Schedule and Route
The new service will operate with two distinct train numbers to facilitate travel in both directions:
- Train No. 19427 (Bhuj to Barauni): This service will depart from Bhuj at 5:30 p.m. on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays, reaching Barauni at 4:05 a.m. the following day.
- Train No. 19428 (Barauni to Bhuj): The return journey will depart from Barauni at 11:55 p.m. on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, arriving in Bhuj at 1:15 p.m. the next day.
Central Minister Chirag Paswan played a pivotal role in securing this service, with a specific emphasis on ensuring the route includes Hajipur to improve regional accessibility.
Major Commercial Stops
The Amrit Bharat Express will offer commercial halts at several key stations, ensuring widespread coverage across the four states. The scheduled stops include:
- Samakhiali and Ahmedabad
- Ratlam, Kota, Sawai Madhopur, Gangapur City, and Bharatpur
- Mathura, Hathras, Bareilly, Izzatnagar, Pilibhit, and Lakhimpur
- Gonda, Gorakhpur, Siwan, Chhapra, Hajipur, Muzaffarpur, and Samastipur
- The newly included strategic stations: Barhni and Siddharthnagar
Advanced Technology and Economical Travel
Designed for efficient and affordable long-distance travel, the Amrit Bharat Express features non-air-conditioned sleeper and unreserved coaches. This makes it an ideal option for budget-conscious travelers looking for reliable connectivity.
To ensure faster travel times, the train utilizes advanced push-pull locomotive technology at both ends. This setup allows for quicker acceleration and deceleration, optimizing the journey across the extensive 2,532 km route.
While the approval for the service is now official, the Ministry of Railways has not yet announced the specific commencement date for the operations.
