A harrowing incident occurred at Maihar railway station on Saturday evening, leaving a couple from Bihar injured. The mishap took place as they attempted to board the Mumbai-Howrah Express (12322).

A Desperate Attempt to Board the Train

The victims, identified as Ramadhar Shah and his wife Asha Devi Shah, were residents of Sagwenz village in the Nawada district of Bihar. The couple was reportedly traveling back home after visiting the Maa Sharda temple.

Around 6:00 p.m., as the train began its departure, the couple attempted to board separate coaches. While Asha Devi successfully boarded a forward coach, Ramadhar Shah lost his balance while trying to climb into a rear coach, leaving him hanging precariously from the moving train.

Panic and Rescue at Maihar Station

In a moment of sheer panic, seeing her husband in immediate danger, Asha Devi jumped from her coach onto the tracks in an attempt to reach him. The situation was immediately addressed by the on-duty personnel from the Government Railway Police (GRP) and the Railway Protection Force (RPF) stationed at the platform.

The railway staff acted swiftly to rescue both individuals from the tracks. Following the rescue, both were transported via ambulance to the Civil Hospital in Maihar for emergency medical attention.

Current Medical Status

The medical condition of the couple is as follows:

  • Asha Devi Shah: Sustained serious injuries due to the fall from the moving train.
  • Ramadhar Shah: Suffered minor injuries during the incident.

Both individuals are currently receiving treatment at the hospital.
