To ease the massive festive rush, Northern Railway has announced several Bihar to Delhi special trains to accommodate passengers traveling for the Diwali and Chhath Puja season.

Festive Connectivity for Bihar Passengers

As part of a broader initiative to manage the surge in passenger demand between October 1 and November 30, 2026, Indian Railways is introducing services connecting major hubs in Bihar to the national capital. Gaya-New Delhi Special Train Schedule

One of the key additions to the festive timetable is the Gaya-New Delhi Special (03697/03698). This service is specifically scheduled to cater to travelers during the peak of the holiday period.

  • Gaya to New Delhi (03697): This train will operate every Tuesday and Saturday, running from November 7 to November 28, 2026, completing a total of seven trips.
  • New Delhi to Gaya (03698): The return journey will operate every Wednesday and Sunday from November 8 to November 29, 2026, also covering seven trips.
  • Coach Classes: The trains will be composed of sleeper and general class coaches to provide affordable travel options.

Coordinated Effort Across Railway Zones

The deployment of these special services is a coordinated effort to handle the seasonal influx of commuters. In addition to the Northern Railway, the Eastern Railway and South Central Railway are continuously monitoring passenger requirements. This evaluation helps in the timely introduction of additional services and unreserved trains to prevent overcrowding during the festive period.

How to Check Timings and Book Tickets

Railway authorities have advised all passengers to verify their travel details in advance. To ensure a smooth journey, travelers can use the following resources:

  • Real-time Updates: Passengers can call the Indian Railways helpline at 139 or use the NTES portal and mobile application for live status and scheduled timings.
  • Ticket Booking: Real-time availability and ticket bookings can be managed through the official IRCTC website or at designated railway booking counters.
Passengers are encouraged to confirm all designated stoppages and current schedules before commencing their journey to avoid any inconvenience.
