The Flood Crisis in Bihar

The flood crisis in Bihar has intensified as the water level of the Ganga River has surged, severely impacting multiple districts. Roads and railways have been affected, with areas such as Bhagalpur, Munger, and Lakhisarai facing imminent flood threats. The railway operations on the Jamalpur-Bhagalpur section were disrupted on Saturday night due to rising water pressure, prompting the cancellation of several trains and alterations to the routes of many others.

According to railway sources, floodwaters reached the gridder of bridge number 195 on the Jamalpur-Bhagalpur railway section, causing significant disruption to train operations. The railway tracks between Sultanganj and Ratanpur stations were submerged, leading to the cessation of train services around 12:45 AM on Saturday night. In response, the Railways has canceled numerous trains and redirected the routes of several others to ensure passenger safety.

Train Cancellations and Diverted Routes

On Sunday, September 22nd, multiple trains were canceled, including the Patna-Dumka-Patna Express and the Bhagalpur-Danapur-Bhagalpur Intercity Express. Additionally, several trains have been rerouted due to the flooding, such as the Bhagalpur-Anand Vihar Vikramshila Express, which will now operate via Banka-Jasidih. Other notable trains affected include the Howrah-Gaya Express and the Gandhidham-Bhagalpur special, both of which will follow diverted routes to navigate around the flood-affected areas.
