Bihar government reviews major proposal to expand railway police infrastructure

The Bihar government is currently reviewing a comprehensive proposal to significantly expand the state's railway police infrastructure to address the needs of a growing rail network and increasing passenger volume. The proposal has been prepared by the Bihar Police Headquarters and forwarded to the Home Department for formal sanction following long-standing requests from district administrations and the Rail SP Patna.

Key highlights of the proposed railway security expansion in Bihar include:
• Creation of two new railway police sub-divisions in Rajgir and Sasaram, each headed by a DSP.
• Establishment of three new police stations at Rajendra Nagar Terminal, Hilsa, and Kursela.
• Formation of four new railway circles in Rajgir, Thave, Khagaria, and Purnia managed by inspectors.
• Total railway circles will increase from 17 to 21 upon government approval.
• Railway police sub-divisions will rise from 12 to 14, and police stations will expand from 69 to 72.
