Bikaner Division Adds Extra Coaches to 15 Trains for Diwali

The Bikaner Division of the North Western Railway is stepping up to handle the massive influx of passengers expected during the upcoming Diwali and Chhath Puja festivals. To tackle long waiting lists and provide more confirmed seats, authorities have announced the addition of extra coaches to 15 different trains.

Boosting Capacity for Key Routes

This special arrangement, which began in a phased manner on November 1, 2026, is designed to ease the travel burden for passengers heading home. The extra coaches will primarily benefit those traveling from Bikaner to major metropolitan hubs, including:

Senior Divisional Commercial Manager (DCM) Virendra Joshi has indicated that the railway is closely monitoring passenger loads. He noted that if the demand continues to rise, the division may implement even more extra coaches to ensure smooth travel.

Seamless Ticketing and Digital Payments

To prevent overcrowding at booking windows, the division has taken several steps to streamline the ticketing process. Passengers can benefit from:

  • Additional ticket counters to reduce queue times.
  • Enhanced ATVM operations (Automatic Ticket Vending Machines).
  • Barcode facilities to facilitate quick digital payments.

Enhanced Security and Safety Protocols

With the festive rush comes the need for heightened vigilance. The Bikaner Division has deployed joint teams from the RPF and the Government Railway Police (GRP) to manage crowds effectively.

Stations are being kept under constant watch through:

  • 24-hour CCTV surveillance.
  • Dog squads for sniffing out contraband.
  • X-ray baggage scanners and hand-held metal detectors (HHMD).
Important Safety Warning: There is a strict ban on carrying hazardous materials. Passengers are prohibited from carrying firecrackers, gas cylinders, petrol, or diesel on trains or within station premises.
