Bikaner Trains: 39 Extra Coaches for Diwali & Chhath Puja
North Western Railway Bikaner Division adds 39 extra coaches to 16 train pairs to handle the Diwali and Chhath Puja festive rush.

The North Western Railway (NWR) Bikaner Division is taking massive steps to manage the upcoming festive surge. To accommodate the heavy influx of passengers during the Diwali and Chhath Puja seasons, the division has announced a significant expansion of its train services.
Starting from November 1, 2026, a total of 39 additional coaches will be attached to 16 pairs of trains. This move is specifically designed to tackle the long waiting lists that typically plague the region during these major festivals.
Connecting Bikaner to Major Metros
The capacity expansion focuses on 15 vital train services that connect Bikaner to major metropolitan cities. Passengers traveling to hubs like Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, and Pune will benefit from the increased availability.
The breakdown of the newly added coaches is as follows:
- 15 Third AC coaches
- 15 Second Sleeper coaches
- 8 General coaches
- 1 First-cum-Second AC coach
Continuous Monitoring by Railway Officials
Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) Anurag Tripathi confirmed that these enhancements are a direct response to the anticipated festive demand. Ensuring that travelers reach their destinations comfortably is a top priority.
Senior Divisional Commercial Manager (DCM) Virendra Joshi added that the administration is keeping a close watch on passenger loads. He noted that the railway remains prepared to attach even more coaches if the demand continues to rise.
Strict Security and Safety Protocols
With the increased volume of travelers, security has been bolstered at Bikaner railway station and throughout the division. Under the guidance of GRP Station House Officer (SHO) Neha Rajpurohit, several measures are in place:
- Deployment of joint RPF and GRP teams
- Enhanced CCTV surveillance coverage
- Use of specialized dog squads
- Implementation of metal detectors at key points
Important Safety Warning: The railway has issued a strict prohibition on carrying hazardous materials. Passengers are strictly banned from carrying firecrackers, gas cylinders, petrol, and diesel on trains.
Easier Ticketing for Passengers
To prevent overcrowding at physical booking counters, the Bikaner Division has taken steps to streamline the ticketing process. Additional ticket counters have been opened, and there is an increased push to use Automatic Ticket Vending Machines (ATVMs). These machines now support barcode-enabled digital payments, making the booking process faster and more efficient for commuters.
