Bareilly: Large Vehicles Banned at Bilpur Crossing for One Week

Commuters and heavy vehicle drivers in Bareilly must adjust their travel plans immediately. Starting from October 6, 2026, authorities have implemented a one-week restriction on large vehicles at the Bilpur railway crossing (Crossing No. 344), located on the Dataganj route in Fatehganj Purvi.
Managing Traffic and Ensuring Safety
The decision comes as a response to the severe traffic congestion frequently experienced at the crossing. With the ongoing construction of a new overbridge, the area has faced significant bottlenecks that impact both road and rail movement.
Senior Section Engineer (Rail Path) O.P. Sharma stated that the recurring traffic jams at the crossing necessitated this restriction to ensure the safety and punctuality of train movements.
The measure is intended to allow for the uninterrupted progress of the bridge construction project over the next seven days.
Vehicle Permissions and Diversions
While heavy transit vehicles are facing a temporary ban, there is some relief for lighter commuters. Two-wheelers and three-wheelers remain permitted to use the Bilpur railway crossing as usual.
To facilitate the movement of heavy vehicles during this period, officials have established specific alternative routes:
Route from Dataganj
- Drivers should use the Nawada Morh route heading toward Shahjahanpur.
- The route will pass through Shivpuri and Tishua to connect with the national highway.
Route toward Badaun
- Drivers are advised to proceed via Faridpur.
- The Bukhara Road should be used to complete the journey.
